The Mudd Nick Foundation board of directors unanimously voted to select Larry and Nikkie Schaeffer as recipients of the Jim and Lynn Mudd Service to Children Award in 2021. Since 2010 (except for the 2020 virtual event), Larry has transported, set up, and operated his sophisticated audio-visual equipment at the Foundation’s annual charity event dinner. Larry’s technical skills and equipment have enabled the Foundation to make our events professional even though our community is small. Wife, Nikkie and son, Tim, are Larry’s assistants in this endeavor, helping him set up the equipment on Saturday and take it down on Sunday morning. In addition, Nikkie, has served on the Development Committee for many years. Because she works for Escape Lodging, she has been especially successful in getting hotels in Cannon Beach to donate get-away package certificates for our silent and live auctions. Moreover, in 2014, Larry wrote, produced, and directed a marketing video that the board has used to inform existing and potential donors about the Foundation’s mission and good works. On September 18, 2021, board members Lynn Mudd, Brad Mudd and Doug Nicholson visited Larry and Nikkie to present the Award “Recognizing Passion, Tireless Dedication, and Commitment to Children in North Tillamook County.” We are grateful to the Schaeffers for their long-standing dedication to the Mudd Nick Foundation and their service to children in District 56.
