During the evening of the 2014 annual charity auction and dinner, Kris Grasseth a volunteer parent, presented the Mudd Nick Foundation with a check for $834. This money represented a donation made by the Neahkahnie High School graduating class of 2013. The class had a reserve of funds that classmates agreed would be best utilized by donating it to the Mudd Nick Foundation.
On behalf of the students, Mrs. Grasseth explained, “This is a ‘give back’ from the class in appreciation for all the years of Mudd Nick Foundation giving. We hope it will help future kids like it helped us.”
This donation touched the Foundation’s Board members and reinforced that the Foundation’s mission is being fulfilled. Young people who benefited from Foundation-sponsored programs while they were growing up felt it was important to give back in order to enable other children in North Tillamook County to share in the bounty. The Foundation is helping create a new generation of donors who understand what it takes to perpetuate and keep such a worthy charity viable.
